Let's start from the end…
Superdownhome is the most powerful and elegant live-act that you have seen on the stages of this hot 2019 summer. The festivals that have hosted them (Bellinzona Blues, Sierre Blues, Dogana Blues, Delta Blues, Soundtracks) and the thousands of people who applauded them while putting the stage on fire before the Grammy winner Fantastic Negrito entered the scene (while touring with him in the best Italian venues - Rome, Milan, Cesena and Padua) have witnessed all this.
Superdownhome have just got back from the US where they have been representing Italy at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January 2020 after being one of the highlights at the Samantha Fish Cigar Box Guitar festival in New Orleans.
“I’m Your Hoochie Coochie Man" is their new single and heady video (feat. Charlie Musselwhite on harp), taken from their amazing album "Get my demons straight" freshly published (2019, Slang Music / Warner Music Italia), third child after "Twenty-Four Days” and the eponymous debut EP. Produced by the blues-rocker Popa Chubby, with whom in recent years they have shared stages, video sets and studios, "Get my demons straight" is a work that highlights a personal, convincing and corrosive sound. The record is mastered by Brian Lucey, who, among others, has mastered "El Camino" by Black Keys (another indirect reference to the sound of our two pards).
With polar stars Seasick Steve and Scott H. Biram, Superdownhome is a power-duo dedicated to a torrid and disruptive rural-blues: with voice, cigar-box, bass drum and snare drum, they fill the downhome tradition of Mississippi with folk and rock. In their show you will find some well chosen covers, but above all new songs with an original sound and the vice for refrains that remain attached to your brain.
They have been protagonists on prestigious stages (hi-light in Pistoia Blues 2018) and summer 2019 has seen them on the stages of the major national festivals opening for top artists as Robben Ford, Keb ’Mo’, Larkin Poe, Eric Gales, Eric Bibb and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
In October 2019 they have been playing their first French festivals and in November/December they have been opening Popa Chubby’s European tour.
Check them out on the many YouTube videos there were shot!
Henry Sauda - voice, cigar box, diddley bow
Beppe Facchetti - bass drum, snare drum, sock cymbal and crash
“... the muddy voice of “cigar-box man” Henry Sauda and the fast-paced rhythm traced by “drum machine” Beppe Facchetti, exude an overwhelming charge, transmitting a sensuality that shuffles the blood, whether we speak of known masters or whether we talk about personal ideas : it is that feeling that takes you and slams you on the stage, that desecrating attraction for the "dirty and bad" blues. Helga Franzetti - (MESCALINA)
"Superdownhome, a duo from Brescia that seems to have finally found a way to realize itself with this captivating and convincing formula for a solid and powerful sound (a rural blues that recalls other genres) and with a look that certainly doesn't go unnoticed. They immediately set fire to the powders proposing the best of their repertoire where they alternate interesting covers to some original compositions that leave their mark, raising the bar of the level of the Festival. Upward quotes for a group expected to take another step forward." Luciano Gardini (BUSCADERO)
"Those 2 blew the roof of the place. I jammed the last song with em....need to get my passport in order. Trip to Italy on the near future. Look up Super Down Home. They are heading to Memphis representing Italy in the international blues competition. They are gonna kill it. Best 2 piece I think I've ever witnessed...” (Stumpy Joe)
"Superdownhome is one of the hottest new bands in Europe” (Steve Harvey)
